The laboratory study examines the suitability of shrub willow for paper making applications. The shrub willow was harvested, debarked, chopped, sorted and hydrothermal pretreated before sulfate pulping. After pulping a four stage bleaching process followed. The results show that shrub willow can be utilized as a sustainable hardwood source for papermaking applications with acceptable whiteness values.
