Abstract

The study characterized bacteria isolates on the surface of corroded aluminium coupon. The biofilms on the surface of corroded aluminium material was tested by colony, biochemical test and gram staining reaction to know the microorganism(s) responsible for corroding aluminium coupon. The results obtained from the analysis showed that bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis, Micrococcus leteus and Staphylococcus were responsible for corroding the surface of aluminum coupon. Therefore preventive measures to tackle these specific microorganisms on Aluminum surfaces may reduce corrosion of the material.
