Communication and Gender in Bachelor’s Degree Students’ Adjustment Process: A Study in Kathmandu, Nepal

Abstract

A large percentage of students in Bachelor’s level study face adjustment problem and fail to achieve academic excellence worldwide. In the related context, this paper explores the adjustment process of Bachelor’s level students in Kathmandu valley in relation to gender and communication. The study exploits Adjustment Inventory for College Students (AICS) to explore the adjustment process of the students. The research is based on survey for obtaining data by using self-administered questionnaire from 120 students as respondents studying Bachelor’s level in the four different colleges - two public and two private organisations. The descriptive analysis was conducted based on a self-structured questionnaire which has basically covered five scales Likert in the five different areas like home, health, education, social and emotional aspects. The results show that Science faculty students adjust better than Management stream students, government college students adjust better than private college students and female students are better adjusted than male ones in terms of gender.
