Necrotizing colitis is a rare but life-threatening condition, often overlooked in young patients due to its uncommon occurrence. It is typically associated with premature neonates but can also affect adults, particularly those with vascular compromise or thrombotic conditions. We describe the case of a 44-year-old male who was admitted for treatment of necrosis in the sigmoid colon caused by thrombosis in the inferior mesenteric artery, possibly triggered by a previous SARS-CoV-2 infection. This case highlights the importance of considering SARS-CoV-2 as a potential trigger for thromboembolic events and the urgent need for multidisciplinary management in cases of necrotizing colitis.
